From Mark:
Dan and I are just now (Sun PM) returning from our trip to
Encinal. Upon
our return, we learned that about half the group is suffering
from stomach
problems. Nothing serious (unless you're the one with the
problem!), but
some are staying in tonight to try to recover. Others have
gone to either
the Belen church where Kevin Landis is speaking, or to Le Cumbre
where
Warner Wortham is speaking
The pictures I'm sending are some of the ones I took over the
weekend.
About 150 people gathered at this little Mixe Indian village
called Encinal
for the annual meeting of the Berean Baptist Churches--a group of
about 25
churches scattered through the Mexican state of Oaxaca.
This village is
about 5 hours south of Cordoba and is situated about 10 miles
from the
highway back in the mountains. I had the opportunity to
speak five times to
the assembly over the weekend.
Please continue to pray for our group, and especially for those
who have
'bit the dust' at the moment. It seems that the worst is
over, as most who
became ill did so last evening and many are back to going
again. Obviously,
it was something they ate, but we're not sure what. The
group worked with
about 80 children yesterday here at the school, about 60 or so
this morning
at the Belen church, and then about 50 this afternoon at the
orphanage.
Tomorrow it's back to work.
In Christ,
Mark
